    October 22, 2020

Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra)-The Cabinet, in its session held on Wednesday, headed by Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, has approved the National Plan for the Elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage for the years 2020-2024.

The plan aims to further safeguard the heritage-based dimension of the national identity, preserve the cultural intangible heritage (ICH) elements, and raise the society's awareness to contribute to the ICH's collection and documentation.

The plan also seeks to contribute to strengthening the powers granted to the Ministry of Culture in registering national elements on the ICH's humanity lists, and to benefit from the opportunities to safeguard the heritage sponsored by international organizations, which contributes to knowledge transfer and capacity building in this field.

On the other hand, the Cabinet has decided to appoint Dr. Wael Hayajneh as Secretary-General for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Affairs at the Ministry of Health, and to name him in charge of the Covid-19 dossier in the Kingdom.

The Council of Ministers has also re-formed a number of ministerial committees tasked to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and mitigate its repercussions and impacts.
